Here it is, folks, our first installment of what bands/musicians/rappers were most popular on Do713. How did we come to this conclusion? We looked at who had the most followers, the most votes and the most events. Six of the musicians listed below were in at least two of those categories. But only one musician was in all three. Which do you think it was? Without further ado and in no particular order, below are the groups that you loved in 2011. Click here for a playlist of your favs. Congrats to all!
Garage pop trio Young Girls
If you don’t know who Robert Ellis is yet, you will.
Tax the Wolf received the 2010 Best Band Name award from the Houston Press, but that’s not all they’re good at.
Amazing indie-folk Buxton
Not only did the legendary Bun B make our list, he’s also teaching “Religion and Hip-Hop Culture” at Rice University
Seems like only Houston could have produced a band like Indian Jewelry
Theatrical & epic Roky Moon & BOLT
The most unique, The Tontons
G4 TV freestyler, Devin the Dude
World-touring, indie poppers Wild Moccasins
